This month’s call featured featuring Bill Powers, of the Protect Our Communities Foundation. Bill is an expert on the topic of transmission costs, one who has been active in confronting this issue in San Diego and in forging solutions focused on developing local renewable resources.
This topic is particularly important and timely. As Wall Street proponents of the centralized energy model, including transmission line builders, the monopoly utilities, CAISO, the federal government, and people who should know better, all assert that massive amounts of new transmission investments are necessary to address climate change–and, of course, to use those transmission lines to siphon wealth from our communities at huge ratepayer expense. This transmission line madness is the basis of the California energy oligarchy’s push for CAISO regionalization, AB 835, which the Alliance is strongly opposing.
