Join us for a discussion with Ruth Merino (Chair of San Jose Community Energy Advocates) and Bill Julian (previous Legislative Director of the CPUC) about an ongoing effort at the CAISO (the Pathways Initiative) to revive last year’s AB 538 (Holden). AB 538 abrogates CA’s hard-won post-Energy Crisis consumer protections and undermines CA’s energy policy sovereignty. AB 538 was defeated in the Legislature in 2023.
Speaker Bios:
Ruth Merino is the Chair of San Jose Community Energy Advocates, a volunteer community group that advocated for and continues to support San Jose Clean Energy. Ruth participates as a member of the public on the “West- Wide Governance Pathways Initiative Stakeholder Group” monthly meetings.
Bill Julian is a lawyer who was staff to the energy policy committees in the CA Assembly and Senate and legislative Director of the CPUC during President Lynch’s tenure.
Loretta Lynch, the moderator, is a lawyer who was President of the California Public Utilities Commission during the first California Energy Crisis.
